A Dam That Is A Statement

During my stay at Kanatal, I got out one afternoon to go to the Tehri Dam – one of the largest earth dams in the world.

What an imposing structure! It takes you by surprise by its mere size. It’s 260m high, 1.1km wide at its base and 600m in length. Due to security reasons, I wasn’t allowed to cross the bridge/ drive across it. But I did get a shot of the bridge to showcase it’s massive proportions. That strip you see is a two lane road on top of the bridge. That should give you some idea of the size of the structure.

The bridge supplies water to the area and is used for hydel power generation too.

I’ve been on the move for a while now. This magazine is an amalgamation of all that I’ve seen, felt & experienced. It’s about some of the most beautiful roads on the planet – highways that connect megacities & broken B-roads that connect you to the soul of a place. It’s about some of the most luxurious hotels on the planet – that’s Luxury with a capital ‘L’. It’s about quaint AirBnB’s that take your breath away. It’s about places that no person has ever set foot on before. It’s about the machinery that helps us get to these places. At its crux, this magazine is about stories…
