What It Feels Like To Drive At 280kmph

The Audi R8 redefined what a supercar could do. I had a chance to drive the Audi R8 V10 Plus sometime back, and was determined to go as fast as I could. So I found a safe piece of road, found a few friends who could man the perimeter and went flat out in the R8. Two Hundred and Eighty Kilometres Per Hour before I ran out of space.

At those speeds, you feel like you’re part of an Instagram Hyperlapse video in real life. It was an exhilarating experience. I didn’t feel the speed till I crossed the 220kmph barrier. But beyond that, I was scared to blink – for the car was covering upwards of 75 metres every second. Rushing towards the horizon like nothing else I’d ever traveled in. My eyes were focussed 400-500m ahead, looking for anything that I might have to take evasive action against. It’s not just the speed that surprised me, but the brute force with which the car pushed me back into my seat and kept me there.

And then it ended, and I heaved a sigh of relief and surprise. Thirty adrenaline filled seconds.

I’ve been on the move for a while now. This magazine is an amalgamation of all that I’ve seen, felt & experienced. It’s about some of the most beautiful roads on the planet – highways that connect megacities & broken B-roads that connect you to the soul of a place. It’s about some of the most luxurious hotels on the planet – that’s Luxury with a capital ‘L’. It’s about quaint AirBnB’s that take your breath away. It’s about places that no person has ever set foot on before. It’s about the machinery that helps us get to these places. At its crux, this magazine is about stories…
